Priority on wellbeing: Masidi
Kota Kinabalu: The Local Government and Housing Ministry will continue to give priority to the development and wellbeing of the people, said its Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.“I would like to see that the focus on the development of social aspects and the wellbeing of the people continue to be given priority,” he said at the Ministry’s Minister Mandate for 2022 ceremony held at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa here.

Masidi said this includes agendas that support long-term economic recovery such as property development, housing, infrastructure development and basic infrastructure such as maintenance of ditches and drains, new construction of markets, stalls and tamu grounds to provide comfort to traders including petty traders.

“Focus should also be given on efforts to improve existing policies and legislation, intensify the monitoring of local authority projects in the field, carry out evaluation studies for the purpose of improving the Ministry’s delivery system.

“Special attention should also be given to efforts to improve the efficiency and wellbeing of the people through the improvement of implementation mechanisms, monitoring, coordination and evaluation so that services delivered to the people are faster, more efficient and effective,” he said.

This year, the Ministry allocated a total of RM72.56 million for operating expenditure and RM13.89 million for development expenditure.

Masidi, who is also Finance Minister II, said careful planning must be prepared to ensure that the expenditure for the allocation from the Government can be spent according to the set purposes.
