Man killed in fight with parang woman

PETALING JAYA: A man died following a commotion involving a woman wielding a machete (parang) at Bukit Mertajam in Penang on Saturday.At least three clips of the incident, which show the woman holding the weapon by the roadside with her victim on the ground nearby, are being widely shared on social media.

In a statement, Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief Shafee Abd Samad said the incident took place near the food court at Kampung Baru at around 8.20pm.
“The victim, a local man in his 30s, was injured and he died at the hospital while receiving treatment,” Shafee said.
He said the incident involved the deceased, the woman, and four other men, all of whom knew each other.
The police have yet to ascertain the suspect’s motive. They are in the midst of tracking her down.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer Ahmad Shahir Adnan at 019-9517045 or 04-5382222 to help with the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
