Hydroponics way forward, grower says
Left: Mohd Shahrom and the fruit of his labour – king-sized green coral batavia lettuce. Right: Apart from lettuce, Sabah Green Sanctuary also raises freshwater crayfish.
Kota Kinabalu: More growers are realising the value of hydroponics which delivers lush, bountiful harvests of standard quality derived from modern, precision farming that delivers results and are eco-friendly.

Through efficient use of space, fertilisers and water, hydroponics may just be what the world needs to counter rising fuel prices, escalating costs of living and global warming.

The water-based system is completely automated, requires less space and fewer resources, farmers don’t even need to be present round the clock, and yet farms can produce more without compromising quality with optimal productivity.
