Two former agricultural office units razed in Tamparuli

Tuaran: Two units that used to be the Tamparuli agricultural office quarters near the suspension bridge, here, were destroyed in a fire last Thursday.In the 4.15pm incident, there was no report of injury or casualty.ADVERTISEMENT
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said they received an emergency call at 4.20pm and seven firefighters were deployed to the location.
“It was understood the quarters had long been unoccupied and no victims were trapped after the we conducted an on-site inspection.
“The firefighters immediately put out the fire which took 27 minutes before it was brought under control,” he said, adding that one fire engine and one utility vehicle of the Emergency Services Assistance Unit (EMRS) were used in the operation.
According to Abdul Qawie, the public noticed the fire at the premises before the firefighters were called and rushed to the scene located 10 kilometres away.ADVERTISEMENT
“The cause of the incident as well as the estimated loss is still under investigation,” he said adding that the operation ended at 5.34pm.
