Parking by roadside: Lorry drivers issued summonses

SANDAKAN: Lorry drivers here are advised to follow traffic rules to avoid unwanted incidents.

Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) Chairman Dato’ Chin Kim Hiung said this when asked to comment on the traffic police’s decision to take action on a lorry parked along Jalan Lintas Labuk at Batu 8 Jalan Labuk last Friday.

“The drivers parked their lorries by the road and their reckless attitude posed a danger to other road users.

“Apart from putting road users at risk, the heavy vehicles can also damage the road shoulders,” he said.

In addition, Chin urged the lorry drivers to cooperate with the traffic enforcement officers by parking their vehicles at the existing heavy vehicle depot located near Jalan Fook Kim.

He did not rule out the possibility that these drivers will lose their permit should they repeat the same offence in the future.
