SANDAKAN: An attempt to transport contraband cigarettes into the State from a neighbouring country was intercepted early Sunday off Pulau Sulok, Beluran, by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.

The success was attributed to surveillance by the maritime mother boat, which was on routine Op Pluto Timur patrol duties in the Semawang waters, according to Sandakan Maritime Zone Director Zainudin Mohd Zuki.
