One dead, two hurt in Lahad Datu accident

LAHAD DATU: A 28-year-old was killed and two others were injured in an accident involving a Proton Saga LMST and a four-wheel drive (4WD) at KM13 along Jalan Segama, here, Tuesday.It was learnt that the Proton Saga LMST was heading towards Jalan Sandakan from Lahad Datu when the incident occurred at about 5.30am.

Willy Maikan who was driving the Proton Saga LMST died at the scene and confirmed by Malaysian Health Ministry (KKM) personnel.
District Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Sumsoa Rashid said two other people injured in the incident are the passenger of the Proton Saga LMST, a 12-year-old boy and the driver of the 4WD, a 31-year-old man.
He said the department received a distressed call via MERS999 at 5.48am and deployed seven Fire and Rescue personnel to the scene with a fire engine.
“All the victims were pinned in their respective seats following the accident and managed to be freed by the team.

“The Proton Saga LMST driver was confirmed died by the KKM personnel while two other victims were assisted by KKM personnel before taken to Hospital for further treatment,” he said.
The operation ended at 7.02am after the inspection.
