Kota Kinabalu: While Sabah is home to Borneo’s iconic orangutans, another smaller, threatened primate species has received the focus of conservation efforts to protect and cultivate greater awareness on Sabah’s gibbons.“We want to promote education and greater public awareness amid ongoing research as well as rehabilitation efforts to protect this wonderful species,” said Gibbon Conservation Society (GCS) President Mariani “Bam” Ramli who runs the Borneo Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, the first of its kind in the State. The project also received a fund of RM100,000 from a German non-profit organisation Nepada Wildlife as a starter fund for Borneo GREP.
