Following the reopening of Malaysia border and relaxation of the SOP, finally there is a glimpse of hope for the tourism industry; therefore, Tawau airport expansion plan must get going.

“Tawau airport reached its maximum capacity since 2018. Based on the terminal’s existing floor area, it is capable of handling 1.5 million passengers per annum (mppa).
Since year 2018, the number of passengers had exceeded that capacity,” he said.
