Tawau school to hold grand ‘do’ on centenary

SJKC Hing Hwa Tawau will be celebrating its 100th anniversary (1923-2023) on April 23, 2023.
TAWAU: SJKC Hing Hwa Tawau will be celebrating its 100th anniversary (1923-2023) on April 23, 2023.The school is planning to organise a series of activities. Among them are Jogathon, Fun Fair, Back To School, Grand Reunion Dinner, performances and more.

Its organising chairman Lee Muk Sui said it is not easy for a small school like them to reach 100 years.
“The journey was difficult but we made it. It took lots of hard work, dedication, commitment and countless sacrifices to be where they are today,” he said, referring to past and present students, teachers, headmasters and headmistress, staff, management, board members and parents, among others.
He hoped the Alumni, in particular, would take the opportunity to support and participate in the various efforts taken in preparation for the grand celebration.
According to him, the centennial celebration is an important part of the school’s history. A special magazine is planned next year, which will include the school’s history, current and past activities and achievements.

In conjunction with the celebration, the organising committee created a Facebook Page at facebook.com/hinghwa100 to share photos, videos, writings, news and updates about the school.
They welcomed contributions of any photographs, videos or related materials in digital formats to be shared with them, so that they could be published here for all to see and cherish. It is their hope to make this page a one-stop information sharing centre and a resource centre for fond memories.
