SANDAKAN: Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong Ket Kiun said there is still much to be improved before upgrading Sandakan status to a city.

Among them, he said, were the complaints on water supply disruptions that he often received from residents in this district.

“A few days ago I received a complaint about a water supply disruption in some areas.

“Until today (Monday), it is also the third day that the area has experienced the water supply disruption which disrupted the daily activities of the residents,” he said in a statement, here, Monday.

He said the Government was seen as failing to take care of the utilities or the needs of the community.

Chong said there should be no more frequent water disruptions in Sandakan if the Segaliud and Kinabatangan pumps were repaired and refurbished.

“As is known, Sandakan wants to be upgraded to a city. But problems like these often occur. The Government does not seem to care about the people,” he said.

Calvin stressed that the Ministry responsible for the water supply should immediately take action to resolve the matter.
