LABUAN: Labuan Women’s Affairs Association Chief Fauziah Datuk Din said the recent programme by the Federal Territories Ministry to enable 19,000 households under the B40 category to purchase chicken eggs at lower than ceiling price for a period was laudable but the same time “a matter of concern”.

Fauziah said the number mentioned represented about 20 per cent of the local population and this is not expected in Labuan as the island was affluent with many high-paid jobs in the financial as well as oil and gas sectors.

The affluence of the island was confirmed in a 2018 survey that said the monthly per capita income of a family of two was RM10,000 which was higher than other states.
