Tuaran: A woman died after losing consciousness while climbing Kokobuan Trig hill in Kg Rungus Nahaba, Tamparuli, Saturday.

Jennifer Jolly, 46, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics in the 12.40pm incident.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar, said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 12.49pm.

Nine personnel went to the location 55km away along with one Isuzu D-Max four-wheel drive utility vehicle.

“Upon arrival, the team walked 2.5km to reach the victim who was reported to have collapsed and was unconscious.

“However, the paramedics who checked the victim’s condition found she had died,” Abdul Qawie said when contacted. The incident happened when the victim was doing a ‘hiking’ activity with 11 participants.

“The victim was also given emergency heart and breathing aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the guide but there was no response before getting help from the fire brigade.

“At present time (9.20pm), the team is still on its way to bring down the victim’s body out of the forest using a stretcher.

“The journey is quite difficult right now due to the dark weather and slippery path after the rain,” he said.

Abdul Qawie said the body would be handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
