Fiance gives way and ends up dead

PAPAR: A 38-year-old man died on the spot while two others were injured in an accident along KM 22 Jalan Lama Papar–Kota Kinabalu, here, Saturday.District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the 2.15pm incident the deceased travelling in an Isuzu Dmax from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu with his 30-years-old fiancé, lost control of his vehicle while avoiding a Toyota Hilux.

Based on initial investigations, the victim and his fiancé was on the right lane but switched to the left to give way to a Toyota Hilux , driven by a 21-year-old.
“The Hilux, overtook the victim but suddenly went out of control before crashing to the left side of the road.

“The victim attempted to avoid the Hilux and crashed to the left side of the road as well,” he said.
Kamaruddin said the isuzu driver sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead by the Papar Hospital Medical Assistant.

He added that the victim’s body was brought to the Papar Hospital Forensic Unit for a post mortem while his fiancé and the Hilux driver were brough to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
