Woman killed in Tuaran mishap

Tuaran: A woman was killed while four others were injured in an accident involving a Perodua Viva and Toyota Vigo along Jalan Ranau Lama, near Tamparuli, Sunday.Noorraini Mohd Yusoff, 28, who was in the Viva, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 3pm incident.ADVERTISEMENT
Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said, his team received an emergency call at 3.08pm.
He said eight members rushed to the scene along with one machine and a unit of Emergency Service Support (EMRS).
“Upon arriving, the fire and rescue personnel found a victim trapped and removed her using special equipment.
“However, paramedics confirmed that the victim died due to severe head and body injuries,” he said.ADVERTISEMENT
According to him, three other victims aged three to 31-year-old in the same vehicle suffered injuries and the 45-year-old driver of the Vigo was also injured.
“All the victims were sent to Tuaran hospital for treatment while the body of the victim was handed over to the police for further action.

“The fire and rescue team then carried out an inspection of the vehicle and the location to prevent other dangers while the operation ended at 6pm,” he said.
