LABUAN: Twenty 20ft containers of rice and sugar have arrived here, signalling the revival of the long-dormant barter trade with Southern Philippines ports.
“The rice is from Vietnam and sugar from Thailand and, the cargoes are now being stored at an approved warehouse awaiting for the arrival of wooden-hulled kumpits,” said Megah Port Chief Operating Officer Datuk Patrick Tiong.

He said the port has outsourced the stevedoring services so that the economic spillover would be more widely impacted on the local business community.
