Lahad Datu m-cyclist killed after crashing into a buffalo

LAHAD DATU: A courier company employee died after his motorcycle hit a buffalo crossing the road at Jalan Felda Sahabat 2, here, early Saturday.The 22-year-old victim was travelling from Felda Sahabat 7 towards Felda Sahabat 2 when the incident occurred about 2am.

District Police Chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad said the victim died at the scene and his motorcycle was severely damaged.
He said investigations showed the victim was unable to avoid and hit one of three buffaloes that suddenly crossed the road.
“The incident was witnessed by two of the victim’s friends who were riding another motorcycle at the time of the incident,” he said, adding the victim’s body was taken to Lahad Datu Hospital for further action.
Rohan said the victim was not suspected of being under the influence of drug or alcohol but his blood sample was taken for analysis.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Rohan urged anyone who has information regarding the case to contact Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Humaidi Harun at 089-881255 extension 414 to assist with the investigations.
