AirAsia resumes Kota Kinabalu -Taipei flight

Kota Kinabalu: AirAsia resumed its direct Kota Kinabalu-Taipei flight on Dec 10.Flight AK1511 from Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) landed at KKIA and was greeted with a welcoming ceremony as well as a water cannon salute to celebrate the long-awaited resumption of the route.

This comes after Taipei reopened its borders and lifted its mandatory Covid-19 restrictions for arrivals.
Sabah Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Noredah Othman said they are pleased to announce they have exceeded its total target for arrivals this year, but “still far from being done.”
“With this reinstatement, we hope to welcome more frequent independent travellers (FITs) and incentive group travellers from Taipei,” she said, while thanking AirAsia for its commitment towards expanding connectivity to Sabah.
“The increasing demand for flights between Taipei and Kota Kinabalu is a clear reflection of Sabah’s growing popularity as a preferred destination for North Asian travellers,” she said in a statement.

With the reinstatement of the Kota Kinabalu-Taipei route, the international direct air connectivity to Sabah with AirAsia has increased to four cities around Asia - Taipei, Singapore, Manila and Bangkok.
She said Kota Kinabalu has always been an immensely popular destination in East Malaysia.

There are two flights weekly from Kota Kinabalu to Taipei and also from Taipei to Kota Kinabalu.
