Labuan’s care centre to be run by experts

LABUAN: The Labuan Lions Club (Mandarin) RM7 million Day Care Centre dubbed as the “House of Love” will be operated by experts in the field of services to the elderly. The centre began operation on January 1.This was announced by Club President Datuk Lawrence Ting after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Integrated Care Management Sdn Bhd (ICM) and I-Bakery at a simple ceremony held at the facility.

Lawrence said, “ICM was successfully operating such day care centre where the elderly at Likas and Petagas and proven to be competent in such management and we really hopeful that new partnership would beneficial to both parties.
He said the centre’s main objective was to provide a better quality of life who are elderly or aged for the remaining years in a suitable environment.
The other party in the MoU was I-Bakery which will cater for children with special needs through teaching of bakery skills both as productive hobby and for placement in jobs. The products of the bakery would be sold as well.
Lawrence said as the elderly population grows there would be a bigger new for such services as it is the only such centre on the island and it is a non-profit entity run by an NGO (Lions Club Mandarin).
