Kota Kinabalu: A 50-year-old BMW driver suffered slight injuries after a van crashed into his car at the Jalan Likas traffic lights near Taman Likas Jaya, here, on Sunday.

Footages from a car’s dash-cam showed the van ran the red light, resulting in the 1.18pm accident. Three men believed to be involved in the theft of cables were in the van.

All three are believed to have fled towards the SM All Saints direction, leaving their van behind. Inspections on the van led to the discovery of several keys as well as equipment believed used to cut cables.  The impact also left several cables believed to belong to Telekom to be scattered at the accident scene. It is understood that the police are still searching for the trio. Kota Kinabalu Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Head DSP Jo Ak Hang was at the scene to investigate.
