Firefighters help flood victims get to hospital

KENINGAU: Sook firefighters rescued three victims, including a boy, who were trapped in the floods that struck Kampung Terelabau Baru Sook here, last Sunday.

The Sook Fire and Rescue Station control room received an emergency call at 10.37pm and a total of nine personnel led by Operations Officer Sharil Sulaiman were despatched to the location with machinery.

The Operations Officer reported that there were three sick victims comprising a 46-year-old man and woman as well as a six-year-old boy who were later sent to the Sook Health Clinic for further treatment. The operation ended at 1.04am.

Meanwhile, in Tambunan a man suffered minor injuries when the Isuzu Dmax vehicle he was driving collided with a 25-tonne lorry carrying a load of mineral water on Sunsuran road in Tambunan on Monday morning.

Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location with 11 members led by Operation Commander, Selverinus Sixtus Geoffry.

The accident involved two Isuzu Dmax vehicles colliding with a 25-tonne truck carrying bulks of mineral water.

The 26-year-old Isuzu Dmax driver suffered minor injuries and managed to get out of the vehicle by himself before the arrival of the Fire Brigade and was given initial treatment by the EMRS team.

Meanwhile, the lorry driver was reportedly not at the scene at the time of the incident. The operation ended at 8am.
