Jailed 6 years for raping girlfriend, 14

Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old cigarette seller was jailed six years for raping his underaged girlfriend.Sessions Court Judge Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad meted out the sentence to Abdullah Ahlun, who pleaded guilty to the charge, Friday.

Abdullah, who do not have any document, had raped the 15-year-old student between 2pm and 3pm on Feb 23, 2022 at a rented room in Inanam.
The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, whipping, on conviction.
During mitigation, Abdullah, who was not represented, pleaded for leniency.
However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Suryati Jumain urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence on the grounds that the offence was a serious ones as the victim was only 15 years old and that such case was rampant.

The court heard that the incident came to light when the victim’s mother saw love bites on her neck and the mother then lodged a police report.
A doctor confirmed that there was fresh tear on the girl’s private part.

Investigation revealed that Abdullah had rented the room where the rape incident for RM50.
The witness who saw Abdullah brought the victim inside the room, confirmed that Abdullah had rented the room for an hour.
Abdullah confessed that he brought the victim to the rented room and then they had sex.
