Kota Kinabalu: While some parts of Sabah are inundated by flash floods, others are suffering from dry taps, like 30 households in Kg Kimihang, Matunggung. Ronnie Onginjan said some 200 people were facing hardship getting water for their daily use.

The inconsistent water supply is making villagers unable to do their laundry or take a bath properly. They purchase drinking water, but not for bathing or washing due to cost.

“Some have to look for old wells to get water from,” said Ronnie. Ronnie, who produces virgin coconut oil, said his operations were also impacted.

“It has been two weeks of dry taps now. Toilets are getting putrid which is disgusting when indoors,” he said.

According to Ronnie, he had informed the Water Department about their problem and lack of water supply, but no action has been taken so far He hoped the relevant authorities would look into their problem and resolve the matter soon as possible.
