Chamber happy Labuan bridge plan shelved
Wong said such measures if taken involved no financial risks and of sure results rather than speculations about the bridge’s impact.
LABUAN: The Labuan Chinese of  Commerce said that it was fully supportive of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s move to forget the proposed Labuan bridge as for now and instead focus on other realistic measures to revive Labuan’s economy with Sabah help.

Describing this as the more effective remedy to Labuan than bridge, the Chamber’s President Datuk Wong Kii Yii said: “What is urgently needed is to ease trade deals with Sabah, offer perks or incentives to establish job-creating opportunities and curb the exodus of job-seekers out of Labuan and to restore the full duty-free status of the island.”

He said such measures if taken involved no financial risks and of sure results rather than speculations about the bridge’s impact.
