Drink-driving: 4 jailed, fined

Kota Kinabalu: Four people were jailed and fined for driving under the influence of alcohol.Nicholas Li Boon Shiew, 31, Jabree Jastine, 27, Lim Seng Jwee, 25, and Rico Ong Yu Jiunn, 29, pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie.

Li Boon and Jabree were jailed a day and fined RM10,100 in default three months’ jail each for drink-driving and they were detained on Nov 17, 2022 and Dec 1, 2022 along Jalan Pintas Kopungit, near here at 12.09am and 1.35am, respectively.
Meanwhile, Lim was jailed a day and fined RM10,000 or spend three months in jail for committing similar offence at 1.35am on May 4, 2022 along Jalan Coastal in front of Centre Point Sabah shopping mall, here.
Ong was jailed a day and fined RM10,250 or three months’ jail for drink-driving at 1.10am on Jan 26 this year along Jalan Pintas Kopungit, here.
The charge under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act (Amended 2020), provides for a jail term of up to two years and fined between RM10,000 and RM30,000 and lose qualification from holding or getting a driving licence for not less than two years from the date of conviction.
