Kota Kinabalu: Some Sabah employers have been booked for not paying the mandatory minimum wage to their workers.
A total of 39 compliance notices were issued to employers during a three-day integrated operation by departments and agencies under the Ministry of Human Resources.
ADVERTISEMENT Offences included failing to comply with the law on minimum wage, which is RM1,500; failing to maintain an employee register on a property and deducting employees' salaries without a permit.
The operation that began in the State Capital on March 6 was intended to ensure compliance with labour regulations and to reinforce the enforcement efforts of each department and agency in an integrated manner, according to State Labour Department Director Wan Zulkfli Wan Setapa.
It also served to ensure the welfare, health, and safety of workers.
