Kota Kinabalu: At least 23 Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members, including one wanted by Malaysia, surrendered to government authorities in the southern Philippine province of Sulu over the weekend, Philippine police said Monday.

Col. Richard Verceles, the operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, in a statement, said the terrorists turned themselves in on Saturday afternoon in Pasil village, Indanan municipality.

Verceles said the surrenders came following an intensified campaign by the Indanan Municipal Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC) headed by Mayor Hermot Jikiri.
