Work with District Officer, Native Court told
Robert, who is also the Bingkor Assemblyman, reminded the members of the court not to abuse their power when judging a court case related to customs.
KENINGAU: Customary holders and members of the Native Court here are requested to cooperate with the District Officer as the administrator in the district.

Assistant Minister of Works, Datuk Robert Tawik, said through the collaboration, it could further strengthen good relations with the District Officer, including the heads of government departments in the district.

“At the same time, they can also refer to the District Officer in relation to customary affairs if there is a need,” he told after the Friendly and Get to Know the District Officer with members of the Native Court for the Bingkor and Liawan constituencies at the court building, here, last Tuesday.

Robert, who is also the Bingkor Assemblyman, reminded the members of the court not to abuse their power when judging a court case related to customs.

He said they should always be fair when making decision on cases they’re handling to avoid dispute.

“However, I believe the customary holders and members of the court have shown high commitment and integrity when carrying out their daily duties.

“I hope that those who have been entrusted by the government to hold this position can carry out their duties honestly and ethically and will continue to provide good services to the community,” he said.

At the same time, Robert said those who face difficulties in handling a case related to custom can refer to the District Officer.

He said that through the cooperation of both parties, the members of the court and District Officer, no cases were delayed and were resolved quickly.

Also present were District Officer Neldin Gimbang, Bingkor District Chief, Danil Palangi, members of the court consisting of Native chiefs, Native Chief representatives, village heads and Chinese community leaders.
