Free Computer Course for 10 students

RANAU: In conjunction with the school holiday, a Free Computer Course was organised by the Sabah Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, here.The March 6-11 course was held at the Tagudon Baru Ranau Village Community Centre and was attended by approximately 10 primary school students.

Among the parties involved in making the basic computer course successful were Tagudon Baru Ranau Rural Community Center and AMC College.
The operator of the course, Asminah binti Zakin, said the purpose of the programme was to give them exposure on the basics of computer use.
“There are three objectives for this Series 4/2023 Free Computer Course, which is to introduce ICT to children as well as improve the knowledge and skills of using ICT to children.
“We also hope it will be able to introduce simple applications for children to do school work,” she said.

According to Asminah, among the contents of the course were six basic subjects.
“In this course, we include a special topic every day. The first day, children were given lessons on ‘Introduction to computers and internet use’.

“On the second day onwards, we gave lessons on typing techniques and using the keyboard correctly, Basic Microsoft Word, Basic Microsoft Excel, Basic Microsoft Powerpoint and Basic Microsoft Publisher,” she added.
