Cutting foreign labour reliance
Recognising that the workforce crisis in Sabah is critical to be addressed, IDS in its Human Capital Development Blueprint has put forward proposals to tackle the issue which includes the need to strengthen and upgrade farming skills, adopt digitalisation and technology advancement, as well as encourage local participation. - Illustration pic by STE Primo
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Institute for Development Studies (IDS) is organising a hybrid forum titled Labour Shortages in Sabah: Foreign Workers Issue on Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan is scheduled to deliver the keynote address.

IDS CEO Datuk Dr Ramzah Dambul said Sabah’s economy relies heavily on foreign labour despite implementation of various efforts to overcome the lack of manpower.
