Kota Kinabalu: The Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah Branch has suggested that the government create regulatory frameworks that promote the hiring of local engineers by the oil and gas industry.

The suggestion was made by IEM Sabah Branch Chairman Willy Chin during their courtesy visit on Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Works Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, recently.

Willy said some of the challenges facing the engineering profession in the State includes the lack of access for local engineers when trying to enter the oil and gas industry.
