The 15-year age limit is applicable to all taxis and e-hailing vehicles that have reached their maximum lifespan of 10 years as of Jan 1.
PETALING JAYA: The age limit for taxi and e-hailing vehicles has been increased to 15 years from 10 previously, the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) has announced.
Apad said this will be applicable to all e-hailing vehicles nationwide and taxis in the peninsula that are 10 years old as of Jan 1.

The age limit for taxis in Sabah is currently set at 20 years, while in Sarawak it is 18 years.
All of these vehicles must meet Puspakom’s periodical vehicle inspection standards while its operators must abide by the operational conditions to ensure passengers’ safety, it said in a statement today.
“Apad hopes that taxi and e-hailing industry players would improve the quality of their services following the extension,” it said, adding that the extension is effective immediately.
It said the age limit extension was part of the transport ministry’s aim to support the taxi and e-hailing industries while improving the public transportation system in the country.
