Domestic investors also crucial
The SIE2023 is a great avenue for internationals and Malaysians alike to learn more about what Sabah has done and what the State has to offer, Masidi said.
FINANCE Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun hopes the organisers of the Sabah International Expo 2023 (SIE2023) will put more focus on domestic direct investments (DDI) and not just foreign direct investments (FDI).

He also encourages them to go all out this year as Sabah is celebrating 60 years of independence as well as the formation of the Federation of Malaysia

The SIE2023 is a great avenue for internationals and Malaysians alike to learn more about what Sabah has done and what the State has to offer, he said.

“It is my hope that SIE2023 will put more focus on DDI and not just FDI to continue to build Sabah’s economy and ultimately raise the State’s GDP and revenue,” he said when receiving a courtesy call from the SIE2023 organising committee, led by co-organising chairman Datuk Lee Swi Heng, in Kota Kinabalu on Mar 28.

During the meeting, Masidi was briefed on the agenda and programmes in the pipeline for SIE2023, including the Sabah International Business Luncheon Talk 2023 (SIBLT2023), for which he was invited to be the moderator.

Lee, who is also the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sabah Chairman, thanked Masidi for his support towards SIE2023 and for providing his insight and ideas.

“We believe Masidi, as the Finance Minister with vast experience and impeccable knowledge, is the perfect person to moderate SIBLT2023 and is able to make the session very interesting,” said Lee.

SIE2023 will be held from Sept 22-24 and the SIBLT2023 will be on Sept 21 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) which will also feature speakers Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Tan Sri Andrew Sheng.
