Beaufort village couple reported lost found safe
Daim and his wife.
BEAUFORT: A couple in Kg Melalugus, feared lost while searching for vegetables, were found safe on Monday.

Head of Mohammad District Fire and Rescue Station Hasbullah Nenggok confirmed on Tuesday that the husband and wife were found safe but weak.

He said the fire brigade arrived at the scene and found the tired couple at the river bank of Tanjung Kg Melulugus at 8.33pm.

The victims only suffered minor injuries as the man had fallen when they tried to find their way home, he said.

Since they were both safe, no SAR was conducted.

The man is identified as Daim Amsir and his wife Lim Laimun, both aged 70. They lost their way while looking for vegetables at 6pm.

They tried to find their way out by retracing their steps but they couldn’t find them and ended up in the same place.

“The time was around 6.30 pm and we continued to look for the trail to get out of the forest but we couldn’t find it. We had to break our fast with only water,” Daim said.

They tried various methods and rituals to get out of the forest but all failed and when they got too tired, they just put their fate in God’s hands.

At 8.30 pm they heard the villagers calling their names and they responded.

Daim and his wife were found by the Fire Brigade and rescuers accompanied by villagers in the forest.
