Harris provided access to full Australian Double Six plane crash reports

KOTA KINABALU: The Australian Administrative Appeals Tribunal, on Monday, agreed to provide former Chief Minister Tan Sri Harris Mohd Salleh access under the Archives Act 1983 (Cth) to the full Australian Double Six plane crash findings.
This is in accordance with subsection 42C(1) of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975 (Cth).

The full report includes the following:
1. Record B5535 GAF37: G Bennett – Sabah Air Nomad – report by Government Aircraft Factories (GAF) Investigation Team on a crash of Nomad Aircraft in Malaysia 9M-ATZ on June 6, 1976
2. Record B638, 6/760/17 Part 1: Accident Malaysia Nomad Aircraft 9M-ATZ on June 6, 1976

Harris filed a judicial review last year to declassify Malaysian authorities’ investigation report on the 1976 Double Six Nomad plane crash.

Harris filed the leave application on July 1, last year, naming the Chief Secretary of the Government of Malaysia, the Minister of Transport and the Government of Malaysia as respondents.

A similar application has also been filed with the Director General at the National Archives of Australia for releasing the investigation report conducted by the Nomad Aircraft 9M-ATZ manufacturer Government Aircraft Factories (GAF).
