Kota Kinabalu: The second edition of “Bola In The City With Sabah FC - A Trip of Excitement” tourism package was officially launched by Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akhbar Khan at a leading hotel here on Friday.

The package first introduced by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Sabah FC and eight local tourism agencies last year offers a much cheaper price this year starting at RM330 per person as compared to  RM699 previously.

Those who bought the package will get to meet and interact with the Sabah FC players, as well as  watching the team’s training session at the Likas Stadium one day before their actual Super League match.

In addition, they are also given the opportunity to watch the match with a line-up of former greats such as Datuk Hassan Sani, Matlan Marjan, Jelius Ating, Burhan Ajui and others.

There are also options to visit several tourism destinations such as Pulau Manukan, Rumah Terbalik,  Monsopiad Heritage Village, Tagal Tinopikon Walk and also other activities including enjoying seafood at the Kampung Nelayan Floating restaurant.

Fridaus is confident the package would not only attract more football fans to the stadium, but also help to increase the arrival of tourists from within and outside the country to Sabah.

“I am very optimistic with this latest package because it is estimated that some 80 to 100 loyal fans are willing to follow their favourite players or teams wherever football matches are being held throughout Malaysia,” he said in his speech.

Meanwhile, also present at the ceremony were Tourism Malaysia’s domestic and event department director Iskandar Mirza Mod Yusof,  Sabah Tourism Board chief executive director Noredah Othman, Sabah FC chief executive director  Ahmad Marzuki Nasir, Sabah Tourism, Art and Culture director Ibrahim Othman, Tourism Malaysia Sabah deputy director Trecey J. Tojuka, Datuk Ong Kim Swee and a few players as well as representatives from the eight tour agencies.
