Labuan FSA hit by cybersecurity ‘incident’

Labuan FSA has engaged global cybersecurity firm Mandiant to work with its IT team and application vendors to conduct a thorough investigation of the security incident.
PETALING JAYA: The Labuan Financial Services Authority (FSA) has confirmed experiencing a cybersecurity “incident” last Thursday which affected its online systems.
In a statement, Labuan FSA said it took immediate steps to protect its systems from unauthorised access, while the relevant authorities were promptly notified of the incident.
ADVERTISEMENT The statutory body under the finance ministry also engaged global cybersecurity firm Mandiant to work with its IT team and application vendors to conduct a thorough investigation of the security incident.
“At present, Labuan FSA is working to ascertain the full impact of the incident on our systems,” it said.
As a precautionary measure, Labuan FSA said it will temporarily take certain operational systems offline to prevent further risks while maintaining operations to support customers with minimal disruptions.
“The resolution of the incident will take time, and Labuan FSA apologises for the disruption to their services,” it said.
