Two food premises in Sandakan ordered closed temporarily

SANDAKAN: Two food outlets here received temporary closure orders for cleanliness violation under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983, on Tuesday.The closure, according to Sandakan Area Health Officer Dr Johari Awang Besar, was made following an integrated investigation that revealed both the food operator and the premises owners had neglected to keep their respective areas clean.ADVERTISEMENT
According to him, the eateries would not be permitted to reopen unless a subsequent inspection proves that they have improved their hygiene and complied with the rules.
Meanwhile, a total of 13 compounds were issued for various offences which included failure to have workers health certificate and failure to wear aprons, among others.
The integrated operation also included the police, as well as those from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry and the Sandakan Municipal Council.
Inspections was conducted on 22 premises here. The operation was also conducted simultaneously across Sabah on Tuesday.
