Socso acts on errant Beaufort bosses

BEAUFORT: For the first time, Beaufort Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) took prosecution action at the Magistrate’s Court here against employers who were found to have committed offences under the Workers’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4).The prosecution was made in accordance with Section 94(a) of the Workers’ Social Security Act 1969 which is punishable under Section 94 of the same Act.ADVERTISEMENT
Socso head, Rijal@Rizal Jamalludin, said among the offences that can be prosecuted under the Workers’ Social Security Act 1969.
“This includes failing to register employees, report accidents, pay contributions and failing to pay Late Contribution Interest (FCLB),” Rijal said.
The case of the employer who is being prosecuted is for an offence under Section 14A, Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 and Regulation 33, Employees’ Social Security Regulations 1971.

The court meted out a fine of RM1,500 and ordered the employer to pay the Late Contribution Interest amounting to RM17,555 within a month, he said.
In addition, his party also issued 10 compounds throughout the year 2022 for the offence of failing to register employees and enterprises within the specified period.

Rijal also advised employers to take the opportunity to register or contribute to their respective employees and companies in conjunction with the Bulan Pemutihan Perkeso 2023 from May 1 to June 30.
