Junior Rhinos bag their first win

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah FC U-23 squad beat Kelantan United 4-1 at Likas Stadium on Sunday night for their first win in the MFL Cup competition.

The home side strengthened by a few senior players, opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Ahzad Harraz with a header following a cross from Hizaz Lokman.

The visitors’ equaliser came from Adam Daniel in the 40th minute after Sabah FC’s players failed to clear the ball inside the box.

Sahrizan Saidin then restored Sabah FC’s one goal lead two minutes before the first half whistle with a lob over the Kelantan United goalkeeper.

Sabah FC extended their lead in the 70th minute from a strike by senior player Umareng Bacok before Amri Yahyah who came in the second half to put the result beyond doubt with a fine free kick deep into injury time.

Despite the three points, Sabah FC remained second from bottom above Kelantan United with five points from one win, two draws and three losses.
