TAWAU: The perception of certain quarters who still label women as the weaker gender needs to be eradicated.

“My hope is very high to see more female leadership in politics and various other levels, especially the decision-making process within corporate sectors,” he said, adding that it is time for women empowerment efforts to be focused on by supporting their roles in society.
He was officiating the 2023 Women’s Day Celebration Ceremony at the Tawau District level, organised by the Malaysian Islamic Women’s Welfare Board Sabah State Relations Tawau Branch (LKPIM-Tawau) together with 15 Salawat Wanita groups.

On the programme, he said Women’s Day should not be seen as a mere celebration but should be used as a platform to evaluate achievements and see various prospects and opportunities that can be explored for mutual benefit.
He also hoped that women would continue to play an active role in realising their potential for the benefit of the family, the community and Sabah’s development.
He added their participation in the programme was very meaningful in supporting the Government’s efforts to empower women.
“This programme is also a form of recognition for the role and contribution of women to the development of the family, society and country,” he said.
