LABUAN: Maswings should have a more effective contingency plan for sudden flight delays to deal with passengers who are trapped at the airport or urgently need to rush to the next destination instead of giving people snail-like service.Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce (LCCC) President Datuk Wong Kii Yii who issued the plea said he booked a Maswing MH3045 to and from Labuan at 4.25pm on Sunday (May 21).ADVERTISEMENT
He said the airport had announced earlier that the flight was delayed until 6.10pm due to unexpected circumstances.
“Just at the time of boarding, the airport broadcast that the flight will be postponed to 7.15pm again.
“After hearing this, I asked to change to another flight earlier in order to return to Labuan to attend an important event that night but was not allowed,” he said.
“The airline should have contingency plans to meet the diverse needs of passengers, rather than making passengers lose their important schedules due to missed flights.

“Passengers can request to change the flight, but they could not do so unless informed by the counter staff,” Wong said in a statement, Tuesday.
Wong also hoped the authorities would solve the air-conditioning problem at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) which has been out of order for a long time.

There is no ventilation in the waiting hall, and the current climate is very hot. Or a new air-conditioning system should be in place.
“KKIA is an important facade. Whether the airport is good or not is the first time to impress the inbound and transit passengers.
“If the air-conditioning system is broken, replace it with a new one, or open the closed glass windows in the airport to ventilate it,” he said. Wong said the airport authorities need to be fast in dealing with unexpected situations.
