Fake entry permits: Four Fillipinos get 96 years

Kota Kinabalu: Four Filipinos were jailed a total of 96 years and six months for having forged entry permits, abetting in having the fake documents and illegal entry.Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz meted out the sentence to MYPR holder Nurma Hasan, 59, Rusmi Ramli, 43, Abang Barin, 50 and Rajul Musim, 23, who maintained their plea of guilty when their cases were brought in court for facts and sentencing.

Rusmi who has 24 charges of having the fake entry permits, was jailed two years for the first to eight counts while three years for each of the rest of the charges and another six months’ jail for entering the State illegally.
The court ordered Rusmi to serve all the jail sentences of having the fake documents concurrently but consecutively with the illegal entry punishment, which means, she only serves three years and six months in prison.

Abang and Rajul were jailed two years each for having the fake entry permits and another six months’ jail each for illegal entry. The duo was ordered to serve the jail sentences consecutively and this mean they needed to be in prison for two years and six months each.

Among the fake entry permits were under the name of Ferwina Jalil, Nurarrasina Junny, Adjlan Rastala, Jamal Joe, Norysamira reyan, Alsaid Abdullah, Jinita Umar, Arasid Abdullah, Mazlan Abdullah, Neneng Abdullah, Shelmalyn Abdullah, Nur Baiti Manner, Mohd Faizal Musli, Hakim Hassan, Oben Muis, Roslin Husin, Muhammad Aslon Laxson, Asah Abdullah, Nurmalin Taril, Noraziza Laxson, Alsina Laxon, Rosalinda Husin and Aisyah Abdullah.

The offence under Section 56 (1) (I), punishable under Section 56 (1) (aa), both of the Immigration Act, provides for a fine of up to RM10,000 or a jail term of up to five years, upon conviction.
After completing the jail sentence, Rusmi, Abang and Rajul were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for further action.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Syarifah Nur Syhada from the Immigration Department appeared for the prosecution while counsel Luke Ressa Balang defended Nurma on pro-bono basis while the other three were not represented.
