Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will ensure state lands handed over to the Federal Government that remain undeveloped are returned.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said, the State Government will also look into the reasons for such lands to be idle.

“If we find the excuses given are not solid, then we fully support the suggestion of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (for the lands to be returned to the State),” he said at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Thursday.

He was responding to a supplementary question by Tungku assemblyman Assafal P Alian who wanted to know the actions taken by the State Government on Fadilah’s recent statement.

Fadilah was reported as saying that the policy now is that that any state land that has been handed over to the federal government but hasn’t been developed within five years must be handed back to the state government.
