Remain firm with party, PBS members urged
Joniston emphasised that party members must be adept in political evolution and voter sentiments and recognise the need for shifts in response to evolving trends.
Kota Kinabalu: In a political landscape marked by shifting alliances and complex dynamics, members of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) are urged to exhibit unwavering dedication to party principles and fortify their base.

PBS Information Chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said navigating alliances while preserving the party’s identity showcases their resilience and a clear vision for advancing party goals.

“As we prioritise our party principles and engage in robust party building, we stand poised to make a resounding impact on the political landscape, setting a formidable example for others in the realm of coalition politics.

“Our constant determination serves as a testament to the party’s unwavering resolve and positions PBS as a formidable force in the ever-evolving political landscape,” he said at the PBS Inanam Division Annual General Meeting, Sunday.

He emphasised that party members must be adept in political evolution and voter sentiments and recognise the need for shifts in response to evolving trends.

He said PBS’s adaptability in this regard allows the party to quickly adjust its course to fit the requirements and preferences of the electorate, keeping PBS relevant.

“Today’s political scene is more fragmented than in the past because of the growing number of political parties.

PBS used to be on its own, but it subsequently rejoined the Barisan Nasional alliance and now with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) due to political necessity.

“Today, we stand with other local parties under the GRS coalition. Although our partners have changed, the PBS fighting spirit remains the same, and we must cling to it if we are to preserve our party’s autonomy and independence, even within an alliance.”
