The Prime Minister has announced the Federal Government will provide RM1 million for organising next year’s Kaamatan Festival.
PENAMPANG: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim became the first Prime Minister ever to attend the State-level Kaamatan Festival celebration here Wednesday, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan reportedly said.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the Prime Minister arrived at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Hongkod Koisaan hall at 9.40 am.

They were welcomed by KDCA President Huguan Siou Pairin, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who is also the State Kaamatan Festival Main Organising Committee Chairman, as well as other State and KDCA leaders.
In his speech, Anwar announced the Federal Government will provide RM1 million for organising next year’s Kaamatan Festival.
The closing of this year’s Kaamatan Festival was graced by Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
Next week, Anwar will be in Sarawak to attend the Gawai Festival.
