Failure to display price tags: Three compounded RM500

SANDAKAN: Three traders were charged under the Price Control and Antiprofiteering Act (Akhap) 2011 by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sandakan branch.
According to Sandakan KPDN’s Chief Enforcement Officer, Azdy John, the compound was imposed when he inspected 15 business premises around Taman Merpati, Batu 7.

“The first trader was compounded RM100 for failing to put the third trader price tag or pink tag for the controlled price of Grade C chicken eggs for the determination of the Maximum Price (Chicken and Chicken Eggs) of the year 2022.
“The second trader was compounded RM200 for failing to put a price tag on frozen product.
“And was compounded RM200 for failing to put price tag on drinking water. The total compound was RM500,” he said.
Meanwhile, Azdy said that overall, essential goods are easy to obtain and complied with the ceiling price set by the government.

He also advised traders to immediately contact the district KPDN if it was difficult to obtain supplies of essential goods.
“Traders are advised to always comply with the rules and laws set by the government and not raise prices at will,” he added.

Meanwhile, consumers are also advised to raise any issues to the right channels.
“The easiest way is to make an official complaint to the KPDN Complaints WhatsApp number which is 019-2794317 or come to the Sandakan KPDN office in person,” said Azdy.
