Tree species selection vital: Borneo Forestry Cooperative Symposium and Industrial Tree Plantations

KOTA MARUDU: The success of Industrial Tree Plantation, from the producers’ perspective, begins with planting the right type of tree, in addition to having proper policies in place.
“This not only relates to choosing species with appropriate wood properties for down-stream processing, but also matching those species to site and environment,” said Jino Albert at the recent Borneo Forestry Cooperative Symposium and Industrial Tree Plantations Open Day event.
One of the presenters, Jino, has been working at Forest Solutions Malaysia for more than eight years and is currently in charge of managing research and development in tree enhancement, silviculture, plantation health, and nursery research.
