PAPAR: The first McDonald’s drive-thru in Papar at Parklane City is expected to open in October.

WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen officially handed over the keys to McDonald’s on the auspicious date of Aug 8 at Lot 150 of Parklane City. Also present were director Vanessa Wong and Manager Alice Ng, while representing the fast food giant were Hafiz and Aldy.

True to its tagline ‘Good Time, Great Taste’, the new McDonald’s restaurant shall offer a warm dining experience with excellent food and services to families not only in Papar, but also people who come from Sarawak, Labuan, east coast, west coast and interior districts of Sabah.

Susan said Paparians would not have to make a trip to Kota Kinabalu to enjoy McDonald’s because the restaurant is just a few steps away from their homes.

She said McDonald’s presence is a huge vote of confidence for the potential of Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City.

“It signifies the investment potential of Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City, which saw the WSG Group being awarded Best Developer for Township Development.”

She said McDonald’s did its due diligence before deciding to establish a drive-thru in Papar, such as conducting market survey and collecting information that were then analyzed in terms of demographics, economic level, consumption, scale of development and potential, preliminary research on the business area and room for development.

The McDonald’s drive-thru in Papar would create up to 100 job opportunities for locals in Papar, especially youths.

Susan believed McDonald’s would draw more people to Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City, which not only create jobs, but also have spillover effects to the local economy in Papar.

The first phase of Parklane City, namely 24 units of three-storey shoplots facing Papar Spur Road, are operational while the much-awaited 10Star Cinemas would open soon.

Susan thanked buyers, major brands and companies who have trusted her and the WSG Group.

“Their confidence in my company and I give me the motivation and drive to make Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City a thriving and vital township outside of Kota Kinabalu.”

Benoni New Township, comprising Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City, has more than 300 shoplots, 1,000 terrace houses and condominium units.

Major brands have established their outlets in the township, including KFC, Pizza Hut, Tealive, U Tea, Osbel, Servay Hypermarket, Golden Dragon City and Mr DIY, as well as local businesses selling groceries, hardware, food and beverage.
