Joyce, Flavia strike gold for Malaysia

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Joyce Heng and Flavia Mannie Luntak delivered two gold medals for the Malaysian contingent at the Strongmania competition held at Aquatic Stadium GBK in Jakarta last Saturday.

Joyce ruled supreme in the women’s open category with a total of 40 points while Flavia with 38 points won the women’s under-65 kg category.

The national team won a total of five golds in the competition.

The other winners were Ida Farida from Labuan in the women’s under-75kg category, Selangor’s duo Faizal Omar and Arif Khalil in the men’s masters and men’s pro under-95kg respectively.

Meanwhile, Joyce who had already won the overall title at the Singapore Strongest competition held in June and the Kedah Strongest event in March, said her next target is the Arnold Europe Strongest Woman Championship to be held in Madrid, Spain on October 13-15.
